I was home for my sister's wedding last week and have been terribly busy running around in the sultry Kerala weather. I missed blogging all the time and now that I am back it feels like ages. There's a lot to say but I feel tongue-tied and tired. I had scheduled posts in m absence but they ended up waiting because I was not done with any of them in the right sense. This is a post I have been dying to share with you all. It so happened that I read about the American biscuits in Rossant's memoirs ( the book I have been ranting about off lately). I then saw the recipe on the joy of baking website and found myself lucky that particular day because all I needed to make these were butter, flour and milk and those were the only things I had in store that day. I loved the buttery scone like texture of these biscuits and it did not require any crazy painstaking procedures. Biscuits in the US according to my research is eaten with curry, soups, jam or just butter. They are more or less short breads similar to the British scones and have a flaky buttery texture. The key ingredients that go into making the perfect American biscuits are butter, flour, egg, milk, sugar and baking powder. The best part of this recipe is that it requires no proofing and can be baked in no time. I had them with a potato soup ( the recipe will be posted soon) and I urge you to try these with some curry or soup. They are a great treat as starters for a dinner party, a brunch or breakfast- these biscuits suits every occasion. So for those of you who want to bake and are confused as to what you should start with, these biscuits are perfect. As usual I baked these in the evening and by the time the were done I lost the natural light I would have loved to have to photograph these beauties but then they tasted yummy so I forgive my wrong timing.

Place the biscuits onto a baking tray and brush the top with the egg wash.
