Sieve the flour and baking powder and keep aside. Cream the butter, sugar, milk and vanilla essence. See that you add the sugar slowly and not all at once. Also the butter and eggs should be at room temperature.Beat in the eggs once the butter is creamy.
Break in the eggs one by one and keep whisking. I dont have a cake mixer so I use the egg beater for those of you with a cake mixer it would be easier. But dont over do the whisking on power mode. Use the mixer for a minute or two and the with the paddle attachment mix and blend. Fold in the sifted flour. Now mix well and divide the batter into seven bowls. Add one drop of each colour into the seven bowls,
If you want any colour brighter add few more drops of the particular colour. Mix the colour well, in each bowl see that no portion is left white.
In a 9 inch pan line the cake tin with butter paper and pour one colour at a time in the centre of the cake tin as a blob.
After each blob is put out just tap the tin so that it spreads evenly and with the weight of each blob falling in the centre, the bottom layer will soon spread to the edge and by the time you finish with the seventh colour the tin would look like the pic below.
Make a swirl with a stick before baking to give a pattern to the cake.
Bake at 180 degrees for 30 minutes. I baked in a microwave oven and this was the time it took for the cake to bake. If you use an elecrtic oven you might require 40 mintues. Once bake transfer cake to a rack to cool and enjoy !!!!
It's been quite some time since I baked with my family so this was a special cake for me, it had the love and pain of my friends and well they ate it too :). This is what I call communal baking. So happy baking folks. I am sure if you have kids in the family they would be super excited to bake this cake.
