Ingredients for Chemmeen Chakkakuru
Chemmeen( prawns)- 50 gms
Chakkakuru ( jackfruit seeds) - 50gms
Coconut- 1 ground into paste
Onion- 2 sliced
Ginger- 1 inch long sliced
Green Chillies- 3 sliced
Turmeric powder- 1 tbsp
Coriander powder- 2 tbsp
Curry leaves- 6-7
Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
Oil- 3 tbsp
Tamarind juice- 3 tsp
Boil prawns with a little bit of turmeric powder for 20 minutes.
In a separate pan boil the jack fruit seeds.
In a pan now take cook the prawns, onions, green chillies and ginger along with curry leaves and the powders( turmeric, coriander).
Once the gravy is thick add jack fruit seeds. Add the ground coconut paste and let the prawns cook for 10 minutes.
Add salt and turmeric juice. If you have raw mangoes add 5-6 slices but I think it's too tangy so I chose the tamarind juice.
In a separate pan heat oil add mustard seeds and curry leaves and garnish the curry with this. This curry tasted awesome with steamed rice.
