Mango yoghurt

I was never fond of curd or yoghurt until I tasted the 'yoghurt' in Italy. I tried various fruit flavours at different gelateria but always stuck to the plain yoghurt flavour. Back in India I found many fruit flavoured yoghurts but they were either overpriced or too tangy for my paste. Thanks to vazhayila.com I stumbled upon strawberry yoghurt recently but I could not find any strawberries in bangalore as it was off season. I decided to use mangoes instead and the mango season gave me the opportunity to make the best of this. So here's mango yoghurt. I advise all of you to make best use of the season and check this out. My husband and I are fed up of eating it coz each time we serve them to new guests we end up finishing them the next days so for a change we are moving to bananas :) for yoghurt. I am sure kids would love these and if you got mangoes, bananas, strawberries or any pulpy fruit back home go ahead, mash and create this. Its economical and that's one thing I love about it. Let me know when you try them. Thanks Sarah for this wonderful idea.

Ingredients for Mango yoghurt

Mangoes- 2 ( use frozen mango pulp if you dont get mangoes)Condensed milk- 1 tin
Yoghurt- 500ml

Directions

Blend all the ingredients in a mixer/food processor. Use condensed milk according to your preference.

Sometimes mangoes could be sweet so you need not use a lot of sweetner or condensed milk. Now take the mix out of the mixer and steam it for 15 minutes in a steamer. I do it in my idli cooker. Though the whole idea of steaming sounded odd to me initially once it was done and I saw the firm gelato like yoghurt I was convinced this process does not spoil the yoghurt but makes it firm by removing the water content. Now cool the yoghurt for an hour and store it in your refrigerator till its ready to be served. That's your mango yoghurt.
